Tunisian Dishcloth

I tried another dishcloth from KnitPicks’ 52 Weeks of Dishcloths.  This one is the Sherbet Dishcloth and uses the Tunisian stitch. I’ve tried the Tunisian stitch once before, but wanted to give it another try. It came back to me quickly and I love the way the stitch looks! I like that it makes a thicker fabric that is sturdy and doesn’t stretch too much. It really is the perfect stitch for a dishcloth!

DSC_8201-001This stitch tends to curl as you work, but blocking it at the end worked for me. Mine was a little uneven at the bottom, but for being one of my first attempts at Tunisian crochet, I’m pretty happy with it!

I used KnitPicks dishie cotton and I love it! I only have a few colors, but one ball lasts so long I’ve been able to use it for many projects! KnitPicks also provides additional color combination suggestions for this dishcloth. I love all of them, but the third one is my favorite! I need to get my hands on that blue!

Cottage Cove

This month I’ve had a really great opportunity to sell some of my items in a local vintage shop, Cottage Cove Cellars!  I was so excited when the owner approached me about selling some stuff there, and it’s been great so far. I’ve worked hard over the past few weeks coming up with new ideas and more items to bring in to the store.

It is a really awesome shop that sells a lot of cute vintage furniture and decorations! I seriously want to buy the whole store every time I go in! If you’re ever in the area, you should definitely stop in and check it out!

Circle Granny Pillow!

I can’t believe summer is already almost over! I feel like it just began! I’m starting classes in August to get my teaching certification and will be working again when the school year starts. I’ve been pretty busy working on new projects this month that I’m excited to share with you. I have several blankets that I’m working on and a couple smaller projects that I will be blogging about over the next couple of weeks!

First up are some little pillows I’m making for my cousin.  She is getting married in November and she asked me to make a few to use as decorations. This is the first one I’ve finished and I really like it! I used the same pattern as my circle granny blanket and I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton! yarn in black and ivory.

I used the join-as-you-go method and slip stitched the finished front and back pieces together.

It’s kind of hard to see in the picture, but the back is solid black circle granny squares.

The second pillow I’m working on will be smaller and a checkerboard pattern. I’m using the same yarn as the other pillow, and working just two rounds of a granny square. I am seriously loving this pattern lately! It is so simple and quick, but I love the way it looks!

I am also working on a tutorial for this seven petal flower, so look for that later this week!
