Pink Crochet Pillow

My goal this year was to make all of my Christmas gifts using yarn I already own. I guess that was a little too ambitious since I only succeeded in finishing a pillow for my sister Chloe. I have a blanket started for my other sister Hannah and a couple of pillows for my mom, which I will share with you over the next couple of weeks!DSC_9509A few years ago I made Chloe a blanket that she really loves. I decided to make a coordinating pillow using the left over yarn from her blanket. I used the same basic pattern as this pillow I made a couple months ago. It is a really simple pattern, but I really love the way it turned out! Once I had all of the squares joined, I did a border of half double crochet in cream on each side, and stitched both sides together in pink with single crochets. I really like the bright pink border!

Even little Lizzie likes the pillow!

I used left over pink and cream Bernat Handicrafter Cotton. I bought several of the giant skeins when I made her blanket, and had a lot left over. Bernat no longer makes the pink color yarn, which I think was called Watermelon. I think they only made it over that summer, and I have not been able to find it since then. I used a size 6.0mm hook and the finished pillow is 18in x 18in.DSC_9530I think the blanket and pillow look great together! I love that they go together, but are not exactly the same. As you can probably see, I used the same hexagon pattern from Attic24 that I used in this baby blanket and I’m also using in Hannah’s blanket, which I will show you soon! I really love hexagon blankets, and I think this pattern is wonderful!
