A Blanket for my Sister

My sister Hannah has been after me for years to make her a blanket! I finally started one for her a couple months ago hoping to have it finished for Christmas. I was not able to finish it in time, so Hannah just had a partially completed blanket to open Christmas morning. I think she really liked the blanket, and I’m going to try really hard to have it finished soon to ship to her in Utah!IMG_0380.PNGI’m doing a completely random color pattern, which is something I don’t do very often. I like having a pattern to follow and I end up stressing about how colors will look next to each other. I found this Granny Square Color Pattern Generator, which is really awesome! I’ve talked about it before with this hexagon blanket, and I highly recommend it! You can choose what colors you are using, how big you want your blanket and how many colors you want to use in each square. It generates a grid that you can follow as you work on your blanket. It takes all of the guesswork and stress out of choosing what color to use next. You can redo the random pattern until you find a one you like best. I took a screenshot of the one I chose and also took a picture of it with my phone so I always have it with me when I’m working on my blanket. Here is the screenshot I took of my grid.Screen Shot 2014-09-13 at 10.29.14 PMFor this blanket, I used KnitPicks Brava yarn in the colors in Solstice Heather, Tranquil, Cream and Peapod with a 6.00mm hook. This hexagon pattern is from Attic24 and is one of my favorites! I’ve also used it in this blanket and this blanket!IMG_0392.JPG IMG_0397.JPGIMG_0400.JPGI’m really excited about this blanket and I think I’m going to have a hard time letting it go! 1. oh great news on the generator! I too am like you and can’t wrap my head around total randomness so that will be perfect for me! Love the colors you choose for your afghan!
